I am a sucker for lip products (even though I end up wearing the same stuff all the time..) so I thought I’d do a little haul of what I bought from Mac and Nyx.
First up NYX:
Along with everyone else I am so happy about Boots now having NYX counters in their stores. This brand is one that I have heard people using for aaaages on YouTube and blogs, especially American bloggers and now I can test the hype! The counters have many amazing products from the basics to trends, which are all laid out so easily and beautifully. I went straight to the lips section as I didn’t have time to fully browse, and I knew I wanted to try the Soft Matte Lip Creams. They are presented gorgeously with plenty of stock, as well as photos of the lip colours actually worn and testers to swatch. There is a massive array of colours and formulas perfect for everyone, whether you like darks or nudes, mattes or glosses. The Soft Matte Lip Creams are literally everywhere so I knew I wanted them and picked up a couple of shades in Budapest and London. The Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks are similar but creamier so I picked up a couple in Sandstorm (which is literally my favourite thing) and Soft-Spoken. As you can see I tend to gravitate towards nude or berry shades but as I love the product’s formulas I will be sure to venture into more colours. I also picked up a pack of two Precision Blending Sponges so I can use them for blending concealer under the eye.
These products are very pigmented and last a long time; the application however can be tricky due to the shape of the applicator. I would recommend using a lip liner to mark the shape of your lips to gain a neat application.
Mac lip products are just about the only mac products that I think are worth the money, the lip liners are always creamy and easy to apply, with an incredible colour range and their lipsticks never disappoint with colours and finishes for everyone. Mac Lip Pencil in Soar is one of the ones I hear about all the time so I thought it was about time I got it for myself. Its a lovely dark muted pink that can be used as a day to day colour or built up for a more intense look. I havent heard much about Morning Coffee however after the woman swatched it in store I knew it was right up my street. I especially like this one as it’s a Mac Pro Long Wear so it’s much creamier and smoother to apply.
*Disclaimer – I am aware that Mac test on animals and I plan on cutting out the brands I use that test on animals so these are the last Mac products I’ll buy unless they stop testing on animals*
