Estée Lauder Double Wear Review

Searching for the perfect foundation I feel is an endless task for most girls; it can be confusing, annoying and not to mention expensive buying, testing and comparing foundations to find one that ticks all the boxes. There are so many make up reviews out there, however I never think there’s too many as they can really help with the hunt for the perfect foundation, so read on to hear my version.

Estée Lauder Double Wear

*disclaimer-I have combination skin; I have heard that this can cling to dry patches so may not work for those with dry skin, or thoroughly moisturize before hand.

Colour (5/5) – I got colour matched on the stand in Debenhams and received a sample in order to test it out before buying (definitely recommend doing this), meaning my colour was so perfect. They offer an amazing colour range, with cool and warm tones. (I am 1N2 ECRU)

Coverage (4/5) – Medium to high. Apply a 5p sized amount for each layer. For myself one layer is medium coverage, two layers is high coverage with an extra thin layer on problem areas. Using a sponge prevents a ‘cakey’ appearance.

Appearance (5/5) – Estée Lauder describe it as natural and semi-matte which I think is accurate, it is mainly matte but still has a fresh and natural dewy appearance which brightens the complexion (perfect if you have dull skin).

Staying Power (5/5) –Lasts all day and doesn’t wear off. After blending in can notice it ‘stuck’ in place, however other products e.g. concealers, blend in really well. (I also use primer and setting spray)

halffull

Packaging (3/5) – As you’d expect the packaging is amazing and looks high end with the frosted glass and gold accents making it worth the high price(and photogenic). Doesn’t include a pump therefore annoying having to poor out your product-wasteful.

Price (4/5) – Expected price for a high end brand/foundation, the packaging and quality of the foundation is definitely worth the price tag, definitely recommend saving up and using it for special occasions if this is a higher price for you

(£31 from Estee Lauder, Boots, Debenhams, House of Fraser, Selfridges. £30 from feelunique)

Availability (3/5) – High end brand therefore only available (to UK) in larger Boots stores, Debenhams, House of Fraser, Selfridges, feelunique.com, lookfantastic.com, John Lewis, Harrods, allbeauty.com and esteelauder.com

Pro’s:

  • lasts all day
  • flawless coverage
  • build-able
  • blends well with other products
  • range of colours and colour match service available
  • mainly matte (great for oily skin), but also brightening and fresh
  • high quality, beautiful packaging

Con’s:

  • higher price tag than drugstore foundations
  • no pump/hard to get exact amount out-can be wasteful
  • could be cakey if too much applied at once/not applied with sponge
  • could cling to dry patches/skin
  • not completely matte
  • not easily accessible to everyone

    1. I’m quite similar in that my face can get a little bit oily on my T zone and it’s totally fine and still looks flawless! it remains matte and still stays in place, I’d recommend a primer, powder or setting spray if you do have any issues but I highly doubt you will! and of course I’ll have a look lovely 💜
